My husband and I had our pre-valentine date last night. Yup, I’d like to call it that way. He leaves for Bahrain on the 10th, that is next week and because of that we won’t be able to celebrate the Valentine’s Day together.

I rushed home from work yesterday and spoke with the girls that Dada & I are going out without them. Freshened up and headed out to dinner. I was thinking to have a light meal for both of us over at Wimpy’s before we head on to my plan, a movie date. But he said that he hasn’t eaten pork sisig since he came so we ended up in Cocolime right after we purchased our cinema tickets just to make sure we won’t miss our seats.

In 30 minutes, we were done with our supposed to be light dinner. He was not happy with the pork sisig so we decided to have it taken out and went back to the main gate and approached the bridge where we have seen an old lady on our way in begging for money, and gave the take-out to her instead.

The movie starts at 8:30pm and we were in before that. Bought ourselves a popcorn, one butter and cheese flavor and made a deal that we will only finish half of each and give each to our girls. But that didn’t happen ‘coz he finished his so we only brought home what was left from mine. As soon as the movie started, he asked me “Our 3rd movie in 12 years?” And I said “You remembered it right, huh?”

Imagine, we had been together that long already and yet we never really had the time to even watch movies at the cinema together. Too bad the movie was just 2 thumps up for us. But never mind, what important was we had a good time together. In fact, we even clicked photos goofing around at the restaurant.

Our pre-valentine date did not end there, we had one round of Tanduay Ice at home when he said “The movie was bad, but the evening was nice, thanks Mahal! I have not been out like this for a long time.”

Next movie to be shown next week is “The Vow” and I plan to ask him out again before he goes. Enough to fill another year before we see each other again. How’s that?

It’s not something that we do regularly. If I am to count the number of times that my husband and I went to see a movie, without thinking hard, the answer is twice. Our first movie date happened in year 1999, with a chaperon. That was also our very first date. The second time happened out of the blue.

Today will be the 3rd time in 12 years since we have been together. And this time I asked him out. It’s not about the movie that is being shown at the one and only cinema in SBMA. It’s more of our bonding moment as a couple. He’s fond of watching movies. He could sit for hours and even a day just watching. I’m not and I can’t. I asked him out for the sake of spending time together without the kids and sort of making up for the days that I have to be at work while he is on vacation.

I am also confident to leave the kids at home because I know that my mom can always check on my girls. Besides, the nanny is just around to keep an eye on them and be with them while we are out. I won’t need to worry about missing things. There’s definitely no need of getting an amsec safety box for that matter.

Therefore, we will enjoy this moment, this very rare moment.

Beginning May of last year, I have been feeling pain each time I get my period but I just ignored. At around August, I have experienced a heavy flow of brown vaginal discharge but that didn’t bother me, yet. I thought it was just another sign that I was getting my period. October came, my menstrual period became irregular. I would sometimes get my period just 20 days after the previous cycle. This experience repeated in December but I thought it was due to the birth control pills that I started taking in prep of my husband’s arrival this month.

Since I got my period on the 16th, I expected my next period on the 12th, 28 days after if I had to pattern it to my regular cycle. It did not happen. I only got it on the 18th that lasted for only 3 days, which isn’t normal coz it would normally lasts for about a week or less. That’s what I thought.

15th of this month was our first sexual intercourse after a year, thus, the bleeding did not bother me. I, again, thought it was normal. I had this impression that when you didn’t have contact for such time, it’s but normal to bleed. When in fact, the bleeding that I have been experiencing after each sexual intercourse beginning that day was actually still a part of my menstruation, that would only stop for hours. Until last Saturday, I again experienced a heavy flow of menstruation. So imagine how much amount of blood I have lost since 15 days ago.

That made me decide to finally see a doctor. She first examined me to see if there’s a growth of uterine polyp but there was none so I went through a trans-vaginal ultrasound that same hour. Findings were adenomyosis and cyst (.3 smaller than my left ovary) in my left ovary .

Symptoms of Adenomyosis which I have also felt:

Long-term or heavy menstrual bleeding
Painful menstruation, which gets increasing worse
Pelvic pain during intercourse

Bleeding after sexual intercourse is another story that somehow connects to Endometrium, the inner lining of the uterus.

I was prescribed to take Dydrogesterone, Php45 each pill, to be taken 2x a day for 15 days without fail otherwise I might bleed again, Hemostan, Php25 each capsule, to be taken once a day for 10 days and some pain reliever in case the pain gets worse. With the medicines given to me, bleeding should stop in 5 days, otherwise, I need to go for another check-up. I was also given 2 days to rest.

In the case of my ovarian cyst, it will be monitored until next month, as it should be resolved by the time my menstrual period gets back to its normal cycle.

I just hope everything gets back to normal in no time without any complication. I could now have the peace of mind back that I have lost for so many months.

Each player (in turn) removes one brick from anywhere below the highest completed story, places it on top of the tower. As the tower grows higher and shifts its weight to one side, some blocks become loose and easy to remove.

My bad! I have not been updated and added new items at M&G Online Shop. 7 days a week are not enough for me to squeeze in all the things that I needed to do. In fact, I have somehow neglected 2 of my blogs lately which is not a good thing at all. I’m afraid I might lose its page ranks sooner.

Anyway, I have been in touch with a local supplier in Olongapo who imports accessories from China and hopefully I can resell her items, whatever that would fit my budget. I have also chanced upon a site that caters and offers free beading projects and I am seriously considering of getting to know more of this Company.

A working mom must always have an option to earn a living in case there’s a sudden switch to being a stay at home mom. Agree?

Getting a job for myself 16 years ago was not planned. I had to find one to sustain the needs of the family right after I stopped from schooling. The day I went back to my hometown was the same day I spent hours of time looking for a job in SBMA. Luckily, a family friend mentioned that a new Company in Cubi is looking for a Purchasing Assistant so I said, I’ll give it a try.

I submitted my CV and was called for an interview. I didn’t have an idea that the person interviewing me was the General Manager himself who is a British. He asked me why I’m applying for the position. I gave him a straight answer that I needed a job badly, that I had no experience but needed to help my family. I don’t know anything but I was more than willing to learn. That time my mom was waiting for me at the lobby. I was so nervous but pretended not. If I did, I might lose the chance. So he said, we’ll let you know. I didn’t expect anything. With how I answered, I knew I was not the employee he was looking for.

At about 7pm, that same day. Our telephone rang. It was the Admin Officer asking me to report to work the next day! I was surprised yet thankful that I got the job! I was earning Php5k that time minus the deductions after each pay, so imagine how I managed those days being the breadwinner of the family. A year later, I submitted my resignation and was honest to tell my boss that I found another job who was paying more than what I was getting. He understood with no questions. A couple more followed. That time I was not even concerned about my employment record. I was after the figures of how much will I bring home each payday.

Until, that same boss of mine contacted me and said that he’s interested of hiring me again, but this time in one of the restaurants in Makati that he partly owned. The offer was good and better, with meal allowance, service charge and tips. So I accepted the offer. I managed the Purchasing Department for almost two years. He also entrusted me the Aficionado Club he was heading. It’s a club where wine aficionados are members. We had monthly events, where I’ve seen Acid cigars dipped in wine for the first time.

As of this day, I am still in touched with my first boss who gave me a break. I just had to leave that job two years later after I had the opportunity to work abroad. I owe him a lot and I will never forget that!

My husband arrived for a 3-week vacation last Sunday night, but unfortunately, I have to be at work. I filed my unpaid leave (as I do not have leave credits available anymore) for a day and that was last Monday and another 2 days when he departs in February but it looks like that it won’t happen due to some personnel reasons. Anyway, I just hope there’d be a solution and consideration to that.

So, now that I have to be at work, I am currently facing a dilemma on time management. I still get up at half past 5am, get myself ready before my daughter so I could spend some time with my husband over breakfast. How sweet of him to prepare my breakfast this morning!

Since 7pm is too early for him for dinner, time is also adjusted a bit. My online time is also limited. Nope, he doesn’t say anything about me being online even after work but it’s my choice not to spend time with it. Then, I make sure that I sit with him for a while, while he drinks his beer and have a little talk about just anything, like how our days went, online stuff like yomega, plan for the coming weekends, before we finally call it a night.

That’s the downside of being a working mom! Less time is spent in some occasional reunion like this one!

English is not my mother tongue though I am confident that my accent being a Filipino is way better than the others. Yes, I can write better, too. Not perfect but good enough to understand and not give you a headache.

My consciousness in English became stronger the day I met my husband. He’s an Indian but not a typical one. In terms of “speaking“, he corrects me frequently. You know how typical Filipinos pronounce words ending in “BLE” i.e. table.

Also, I was exposed to English speaking (British and Canadian) bosses with my first job. So imagine the stress I had gone through at first, not to forget the different terms used? But that actually helped me a lot in building confidence on how to speak in English fluently.

Then, I had the opportunity to work abroad where English is also used daily, 8 hours a day. In my case, it was more, living with my husband. It also happened that my former boss, who is a Kuwaiti but studied and frequented the United States, and a Superior who is a Pakistani raised in Canada, added a challenge.

Moving back home 4 years ago did not give me a break from speaking in English. I engaged myself for a year working as a Virtual Assistant, and from time to time did telemarketing tasks.

When I decided to go back to the corporate world, it added more challenges. Reporting to the President who is an Israeli/Dutch but good in English and working with different nationals virtually made my way to develop and add more confidence to what I have already built over the years.

Some good tips that I still remember were:

Don’t feel shy to speak up. Never get too conscious with how you pronounce words. Eventually, you will get the proper diction and pronunciation. Practice makes perfect, some would say. But for me, getting used to it is the right term.

Observe how others say the words, but do not try hardest and be like a copy cat because you might overdo it, and worst it may sound funnier.

Whenever you have time alone, read loudly. Loudly. Literally. And see how it goes day by day. This also applies when you are writing a composition, may it be a proposal/business letter or a blogpost. If you are not sure of your grammar, read loudly and for sure you will make out if something is wrong.

Sounds easy right? Trust me, it’s easier if you apply it.

I just could not exactly recall but I am sure I’ve read somewhere online that “listening to music while working seems to impair task concentration as well as the ability to remember”. In my case, it’s the other way around.

I noticed this back in my High School days when I had to cram and memorize lines in prep for the exam the next day. I am not the type of student who would daily scan her notes with or without exam the following day. I would only review my notes when it’s needed and I do it during wee hours when everyone is asleep in the household.

I tried both scenes. With music off, my mind tend to get the opportunity to wander somewhere else instead of focusing on what I have to do. Weird eh? With music on, particularly mellow and blues songs, my mind get more lively and cooperative. Well, I don’t really pay attention to what is currently playing. I just need to hear something else aside from silence.

I did and practiced the same habit during College. In short, I work more effectively with music on.Until now, I do the same. I keep a music library in my computer, songs are saved as per the type of music or artist, and play them alternately in a minimum volume while I work, may it be at home or in the office. I am glad that my officemates who are seated near me do not object to my type of music haha!

Oh! I almost forgot, I also need something to munch on to keep me going. Ask Gaylee, she knows me well haha!
