On having an option to earn a living

Written by Mommy Mitch on January 25, 2012 – 9:33 AM

My bad! I have not been updated and added new items at M&G Online Shop. 7 days a week are not enough for me to squeeze in all the things that I needed to do. In fact, I have somehow neglected 2 of my blogs lately which is not a good thing at all. I’m afraid I might lose its page ranks sooner.

Anyway, I have been in touch with a local supplier in Olongapo who imports accessories from China and hopefully I can resell her items, whatever that would fit my budget. I have also chanced upon a site that caters and offers free beading projects and I am seriously considering of getting to know more of this Company.

A working mom must always have an option to earn a living in case there’s a sudden switch to being a stay at home mom. Agree?

Time Management

Written by Mommy Mitch on January 18, 2012 – 9:13 AM

My husband arrived for a 3-week vacation last Sunday night, but unfortunately, I have to be at work. I filed my unpaid leave (as I do not have leave credits available anymore) for a day and that was last Monday and another 2 days when he departs in February but it looks like that it won’t happen due to some personnel reasons. Anyway, I just hope there’d be a solution and consideration to that.

So, now that I have to be at work, I am currently facing a dilemma on time management. I still get up at half past 5am, get myself ready before my daughter so I could spend some time with my husband over breakfast. How sweet of him to prepare my breakfast this morning!

Since 7pm is too early for him for dinner, time is also adjusted a bit. My online time is also limited. Nope, he doesn’t say anything about me being online even after work but it’s my choice not to spend time with it. Then, I make sure that I sit with him for a while, while he drinks his beer and have a little talk about just anything, like how our days went, online stuff like yomega, plan for the coming weekends, before we finally call it a night.

That’s the downside of being a working mom! Less time is spent in some occasional reunion like this one!

How I built my confidence in speaking English

Written by Mommy Mitch on January 13, 2012 – 12:00 AM

English is not my mother tongue though I am confident that my accent being a Filipino is way better than the others. Yes, I can write better, too. Not perfect but good enough to understand and not give you a headache.

My consciousness in English became stronger the day I met my husband. He’s an Indian but not a typical one. In terms of “speaking“, he corrects me frequently. You know how typical Filipinos pronounce words ending in “BLE” i.e. table.

Also, I was exposed to English speaking (British and Canadian) bosses with my first job. So imagine the stress I had gone through at first, not to forget the different terms used? But that actually helped me a lot in building confidence on how to speak in English fluently.

Then, I had the opportunity to work abroad where English is also used daily, 8 hours a day. In my case, it was more, living with my husband. It also happened that my former boss, who is a Kuwaiti but studied and frequented the United States, and a Superior who is a Pakistani raised in Canada, added a challenge. Read more »
